Baarbé is a Common Law student entering his 2nd year at the University of Ottawa. As a research fellow with the Open African Innovation Research Network, he has been working on several data-driven legal research projects. Drawing on his background in quantitative research, Baarbé is exploring how open data enables and constrains innovation and development. Among his research activities, Baarbé is developing a database and interactive website to track the 133-year history of International Intellectual Property Treaties adoption by African states. Baarbé taught himself to code while pursuing his interests in data visualization and other creative ways to disseminate knowledge. He holds a BA (Honours) and MA in Criminology from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
