Open Agricultural Funding: Breaking Down Silos

The Initiative for Open Ag Funding works to support efforts to end hunger and food insecurity by ensuring organizations have the information they need to make smarter investments in the agriculture and food security sector.

While organizations need various types of data to make better decisions, this initiative is focused on improving the quality, availability and timeliness of data concerning investments — in other words, data that seek to answer who is doing what, where, with whom, and to what effect.

Through an exhibit at the GODAN Summit, the Initiative seeks to link our efforts to existing open data practices to ensure that donors, foundations, and NGOs working in agriculture and food security commit to share their investment data. Specifically, we will:

1) increase the awareness and value proposition of the project;

2) identify organizations committed to publishing their investment data and invite them to get involved with the initiative;

3) provide more inputs on data user needs.
