WFP’s mVAM: How mobile technology enables real-time monitoring in humanitarian settings

The purpose of the exhibit will be to present the innovative work of the World Food Programme’s mobile Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping team (mVAM). Since 2013, mVAM has been collecting food security data using mobile technology [remote, conflict, hard to reach areas etc].SMS, IVR. Has been scaled to over 25 countries.

The exhibit will show how mVAM data is processed - data collection, analysis and dissemination to decision makers and the wider humanitarian community - and the importance of Open Data to WFP and other organizations providing humanitarian assistance.
